This is me with them at Killer Nashville in 2015. Renee died not long afterward, and now they're both gone too soon. RIP.
So sad to hear about the death of Donald Bain, the wonderful and prolific author of the Murder She Wrote books, Margaret Truman's "Capital Crimes" mysteries and so much more during his lifetime. I met Donald and his wife/co-author Renee Paley-Bain at my first mystery conference for the Gil Malloy books, and they were unbelievably kind to me. Renee actually asked me to autograph a copy of The Kennedy Connection for her, and Donald surprised me by sending me an enthusiastic email afterward telling me how much he loved the book. I have proudly used one of his lines from that email ("Gil Malloy for President!) as an author blurb ever since.

"LOVERBOY carries you along a fast-paced track, fools you into thinking you have it all figured out, then slams you into a blank wall around the corner." - Star-Ledger of NJ
